Eligibility requirements

Are you
eligible?

We help people who face various obstacles and inequalities

We provide assistance to people who do not qualify for government Legal Aid or who do not have the financial resources to pay for private legal services.

We inform, guide and empower people facing legal difficulties, free of charge.

The Legal Collective is committed to adjusting its environment to meet the CNESST's workplace sanitary measures. We encourage our users to do the same in order to collectively ensure the well-being of all!

Are you in this situation?

We can help you.

1
You do not qualify for Legal Aid.

To verify your eligibility for Legal Aid, you must make an appointment with your local Legal Aid office. Visit the Legal Services Commission website for more details.

2
You do not have the financial resources to hire a lawyer or notary.

The Legal Collective is a charitable organization that serves primarily low-income individuals. The people we serve cannot afford to pay for private legal services because paying for a professional is impossible or would cause them stress that could compromise their overall well-being.

We do not have a ceiling or limit, but as a guide, the people we help have an annual income of less than $60,000.

3
Your situation is within the scope of the services we offer.

We offer personalized legal information meetings in many areas of law.

However, we do not handle issues related to taxation, intellectual property, business law or class action cases.

Please also note that we cannot represent you in the courts or other tribunals.

Evaluation

If you meet the eligibility requirements, we will assess your situation and determine if we can be of assistance to you. Since The Legal Collective depends on the participation of volunteer lawyers and donations, we cannot guarantee access to our services. If you do not meet the eligibility requirements or if we are unable to help you, we will direct you to resources that are appropriate for your situation.

Make an appointment

Except for exceptional reasons, no initial consultation takes place by phone or email.
